About Us

Headway North Worcestershire was started in 1988 by a group of concerned relatives of brain injured people. The first services operated out of rooms at Kidderminster Hospital, but within four years expanded dramatically and was recognised as a much needed service in the community. Today Headway North Worcestershire operates across the whole of north Worcestershire through a staff team of 18 people and is funded by the Wyre Forest Primary Care Trust, Social Services and public donation. It is run by a Board of Trustees who use the funding to employ staff to deliver the services, assisted by a team of dedicated volunteers.

Headway North Worcestershire is affiliated to the national organisation, Headway - the brain injury association.

As a Registered Charity, (number 519343) we are grateful for the support we receive through donations. We are registered with the Will to Charity website where you will find us under the heading "disability". If you would like to make a donation to us in your will through this website please click here: www.willtocharity.co.uk. Thank you!

Volunteers
Without the support of our dedicated team of 20 volunteers, we would be unable to deliver the Headway services. We have volunteers who have supported Headway for many years. We are especially grateful for their continued support.
Applications from people who would like to volunteer are always welcome.

Our Funders
We provide day services at Stourport, Bromsgrove and Redditch, as well as community support services and a carer and family support service. To enable us to do this, we have a staff of 18 people. The funding for staff accounts for the bulk of our expenditure. The Social Services Supporting People scheme accounts for half of this sum, with Worcestershire PCT and Social Services providing the remainder. We have an active fundraising scheme to enable us to make up the shortfall. Donations are gratefully received.

Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees is made up of people from all walks of life who offer their services on a voluntary basis. Our Board members have occupations ranging from solicitors, health professionals, civil servants and accountants who all bring their special skills to the work of Headway. They meet alternate months to discuss the operational and strategic considerations of running the charity. They are responsible for obtaining funding for the continued operation of the service.

The Board:
Chris Noons, Chairman
Hilary Wetherall, Company Secretary
Annette Coppen, Member
Malcolm Scott, Member
Bet Yates, Member

Philip Edwards, Honorary President
Richard Annis, Treasurer and non-Board member
